Physical Fitness Programs: US Army Basic and Advanced Individual Training (1967)

thefilmarchive.org United States Army Basic Training (also known as Initial Entry Training or IET) is the program of physical and mental training required in order for an individual to become a soldier in the United States Army, United States Army Reserve, or Army National Guard. It is carried out at several different Army posts around the United States. Basic Training is designed to be highly intense and challenging. The challenge comes as much from the difficulty of physical training as it does from the required quick psychological adjustment to an unfamiliar way of life. Basic Training is divided into two parts: Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training. Basic Combat Training (BCT) consists of the first ten weeks of the total Basic Training period, and is identical for all Army, Army Reserve, and Army National Guard recruits. This is where individuals learn about the fundamentals of being a soldier, from combat techniques to the proper way to address a superior. BCT is also where individuals undergo rigorous physical training to prepare their bodies for the eventual physical strain of combat. One of the most difficult and essential lessons learned in BCT is self-discipline, as it introduces prospective soldiers to a strict daily schedule that entails many duties and high expectations for which most civilians are not immediately ready. Hip Replacement Exercise Program

Physical therapy for hip replacement generally continues after patients go home from the hospital until they are able to function more independently. Total rehabilitation after surgery will take at least 6 months. Patients will have an exercise program to follow when they go home, even if they are still having physical therapy. Patients should also take a short walk several times each day. If they notice any soreness, they should try a cold pack on their hip and perhaps decrease their activity a bit, but not stop completely. Staying with their walking and exercise program will help speed their recovery.

This program includes exercises and routines that Scott Sonnon uses to train military, government, and special ops groups around the globe. These men don't need bigger muscles just for appearance's sake. They need to be able to perform in extreme circumstances and to be sure their body is in top form at all times. This is why the exercises in the TacfitCommando are functional exercises designed to improve flexibility, strength, stamina, recovery, and the ability to create short burst of extreme physical activity. In addition, the guys in special ops units don't have a lot of time to go to the gym and do traditional workouts. Often, they're no where near a gym, but they still need to workout hard. This is why all the workouts in the Tacfit Commando program don't require equipment and can be done very fast. In fact, the entire program is built on the concept on ultra-short but intensive workouts. The exercises are quick and the rest time between sets is short.
